The holistic approach has at its base a way of seeing symptoms as a warning light on your car dashboard—it is not the problem in itself but is an indication that a problem exists. Suppressing such symptoms creates chronic illness.
In Holistic Health Practice we look at the body as a whole and observe the current symptoms as well as the past symptoms and illnesses. There are also some physical characteristics we take into consideration:
– Skin color and texture
– Nail characteristics: texture, color, moon
– Face: under eyes, lips, color
– Lips: color, dryness
– Sleep Patterns
– Hair texture and if there is loss
– Pain at certain acupressure points
I do also refer to the blood tests as reference points which tell us what is going on internally and how each reading relates to function of each organ. Blood tests also help to monitor the progress and improvements over time.
Once all the factors are considered a diagnosis and remedy is provided. Remedy includes: dietary changes, herbal/natural supplements, meditation, exercise and in my case acupressure points which can help stimulate certain organs and promote faster detoxification.
